A meme of Marvel Comics Presidents’ Day Special depicting Abraham Lincoln rolling up his sleeves to “Save America!” has been circulating around Facebook. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence. Or maybe not.

  1. Ha! Love it! The imagery is probably humorously enhanced by having just listened to an interview with Jeff Flake, but it certainly appeals to a lurking adolescent spirit.

    • It was definitely good timing to come across this, or perhaps it was fed to me deliberately after Google/Facebook/Amazon read all my emails, websites, and FB posts.

As for Flake, he just played the party line and voted for a “bill” that was so irresponsible Flake and other Senators begged the House not to just pass it. Flake gets no pass on his virtually rubber stamp pandering to anti-American actions by his party. His publicist wrote the Op-Ed because Flake knows he will have a tougher reelection campaign next year. It’s only moral courage when it isn’t blatant cynical pandering.

      • Oh yes… I get what’s going on. He feels the coattails ripping and just wants to make sure he doesn’t have to land in the bed of his own making. Amusing, nevertheless.

I’ll confess to my disappointment at our own senator as well, trying to figure out just how much of the party-line ad absurdum he has to tow in order to get his official stamp-of-approval in next year’s Republican… caucus. Yep, this is a caucus state…ha, ha! If the Democrats can find someone with just a shred of genuine humility, this will be a two-Democrat senatorial state by the end of 2018.

        • The Democrats should be running their best people (whoever they may be) because it’s time that they call out the Republican party for its institutionalized dishonesty.

Lincoln would clearly not be a Republican these days; he would consider them to be No Nothings.
